ABOUT CalNeuro

CalNeuro Research Group (CalNeuro) is an independent clinical research group specializing in disorders of the central nervous system. CalNeuro is led by Tanya Vapnik, Ph.D. (Attending Psychologist in the Anxiety Disorders Program at the UCLA School of Medicine). CalNeuro partners with the pharmaceutical industry to conduct year-round clinical trials with the goal of bringing new therapies to market while maintaining FDA compliance using good clinical practices. Our staff has a combined over 60 years of experience working on clinical trials. 

CalNeuro Research Group’s primary focus is to improve patient outcomes by providing cutting edge experimental medications. We conduct Phase 2 through Phase 4 clinical trials, sponsored by leading pharmaceutical companies, regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and overseen by a study-specific federally accredited Investigational Review Board (IRB). Tanya Vapnik, Ph.D


Dr. Vapnik received her doctorate in clinical psychology from California Graduate Institute in 1998. She has been working in the field of clinical research for over 25 years. She began as a Research Nurse with the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute in 1990, where she is still presently working as an attending psychologist in the Anxiety & Related Disorders program. During her work at UCLA, she rose through the ranks as a rater, manager, and finally investigator in numerous clinical trials. Around the same time, Dr. Vapnik started working as a Principal Investigator at Pacific Institute of Medical Research. Since then, she has continued to work at UCLA as a clinician, researcher, and educator. Today, she serves as President of CalNeuro Research Group, and runs her own successful private practice. 

 

Alexander Bystritsky, M.D., Ph.D


Dr. Bystritsky is a board-certified psychiatrist with a specialty in anxiety disorders, and currently is a Professor-in-Residence with the UCLA Department of Psychiatry. He received his M.D. and Ph.D. in psychopharmacology from the First Pavlov State Medical University of St. Petersburg. Over the years as a clinician and researcher, he has gained extensive experience into modern neuroscience practices. He now serves as a clinical research investigator with CalNeuro Research Group.

Lilly Rousseva-Stoyanova, Ph.D


Dr. Rousseva-Stoyanova has been working at CalNeuro as a therapist and a clinical research rater since 2004. She received her doctorate degree from the Institute of Psychology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. She has earned her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the Technical University in Germany and her Master’s degree in Psychology from the Humboldt University located in Berlin, Germany. She has extensive experience working with adolescents and children. Her experience in the field of psychology and patient rapport make her invaluable to her patients.
